Q&A's
Q: Is it offered for the ibook, powerbook G3, Powerbook G4
12", or desktop computers?
A: No. We can only support the Titanium G4 15" laptop
computer. Our new iLite might be of interest to you.
Q: How much power does it drain?
A: In our tests before sleep(LED's kept on), I had about
2:59 mins of battery life, after 9 hrs of sleep(LED's kept
on), it reported about 2:57 mins left (This figure depends
on how new your powerbook battery is).
Q: What if you have both memory slots filled?
A: Our test model had both memory slots filled, as long you
have a 8mm space on top to your memory module, you are
fine.
Q: Are only the F and J keys lit?
A: Yes.
Q: Does it need a power supply?
A: No. it uses the power from your powerbook.
Q: Does the two lighted Keys light up the whole keyboard?
A: Unfortunately no. You might be able to see some
surrounding keys however.
Q: What's involved in installation, will I need to drill or
anything etc.
A: There is no modifications to your powerbook whatsoever.
All you would have to do is drop the lights in and plug it
in.
Q Do I have to manually lift the keyboard up to turn on/off
each time?
A: No. It will automaticaly turn on when your powerbook is
on and off when your powerbook is off.
Q: What if I want to keep it off or keep it on?
A: You can adjust it to stay on or stay off.
Q: Can I manually turn it on/off at will?
A: No. not from externally.
Q: Where is it plugged into?
A: We are selling a Do-it-yourself manual and a Printed
Circuit board.
Q: Can I have the install manual?
A: We are selling a Do-it-yourself manual and a Printed
Circuit board.
Q: ... what's the point of the device in the first
place....???
A: Try this: right now. Turn off the lights, make a 360
degree turn in front of your computer, then begin typing.
I'm sure you have to take a sec to find your index keys
again, even if you have to feel for the tiny buttons.
Q: If you can only see some keys around "F" and "J", but
not the whole keyboard, then I fail to understand how the
unit is useful for typing and using the computer
efficiently in the dark....
A: See question above. One of the first thing they teach in
typing class is that your index fingers be on the "F" and
"J" keys. After that, you know where everything is.
Q: Will this Void my Warranty?
A: According to Apple's Article, it should not. "Apple
Warranty: Installing Memory, Expansion Cards, User
Installable Parts Does Not Void Warranty". Please go to
Apple's website and look up article: 13946.
Q: Will this fit in PB G4 generation 4 (867,1ghz)?
A: Yes.
Q: Is this including the whole keyboard or just the lights?
A: Just the lights.
